Rare pieced map quilt of the United States with Oklahoma shown split into Indian territory and Oklahoma Territory (from 1890 -1907).
Canada is stitched to be British America which was a name more common in the 19th c. The fabrics are soft early velvets.The map is framed by 5 rectangular bands of soft ocre and violet.
Each of the capitals are indicated by stitched dots locating them. Rust colored fabric backing. c. 1890s. unsigned
Rhode Island is shown with 2 capitals as it alternated Newport and Providence from 1854 to 1900.
Minor patch repair to backing cotton cloth, minor holes and wear.
