A Penguin by Charles Hart

Charles Hart (1862-1960) was known for making exceptional decoys and being obsessed with penguins. He is reported making many kinds of penguins in many sizes over decades. Some found homes on peoples mantles and others were finials or graced entrances to homes. This is a larger penguin which may have spent time on a porch. The upturned bill is carved separately as are the wings, tail and feet attached to the base. Probably 1920 -1930s.
